ASICMINER Blades Setup
I Have seen a increasing number of users ask me why their asicminer blades are not working with the pool so i have decided to do a little write up of why and how to ensure that they work and mine happily in the pool.
Why they dont work? The simple answer to this is that the firmware on the blades is extremely old and has no stratum support. The firmware is also closed source at this point so there is currently no way to make them work with stratum out of the box. It is quite simple to get them working with any stratum pool and i will put a guide below.
There are multiple ways to set-up a stratum proxy. You can use the proxy in the FAQ section of the website however i prefer to use bfgminer as it already has a proxy build in.
Step 1. Download bfgminer from here. MAKE SURE YOU ONLY GET THE 32BIT VERSION AS THE 64BIT VERSION STRATUM PROXY DOES NOT WORK.
Step 2. Create a batch file with the following "bfgminer.exe --http-port 8330 -o btc.give-me-coins.com:3335 -u worker.name -p workerpassword" This will connect you to the pool as the worker provided and listen on port 8330 for any devices. NOTE: when you set your worker on bfgminer all connected devices to that proxy will be running under that worker.
Step 3. Now you need to configure your blade to point to the IP address running the bfgminer proxy be sure to change the port to 8330 or whatever you have configured in bfgminer. Please note you can put in any username and password on your blade but if you have multiple then make sure they are different.
Step 4. Once your blade restarts with your new settings you should see PXY 0 appear on bfgminer and start to hash.
Thats it your done.
Please comment if you think this guide needs more or if anything is unclear. I will be adding instructions for Linux and the traditional stratum proxy if anyone wants them.
