R9 280x system shutdown after short mining

edited December 2013 in Hardware support
Hi all,
My problems are as follows:
1.I start cgminer and it runs for 2-4 minutes max, and then system shuts down
2.Hashrate max at 540 KH/s
3.Temperatures after one minute can go up to 90C

I'm very disappointed for now. I don't know if it's GPU fault or mine (most probably mine). Hope someone could help me to fix it.

My current config (I've tried many):
--scrypt -o http://ltc-eu.give-me-coins.com:3334 -u x -p x
-intensity 13 -w 256 -g 2 --gpu-engine 1050 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-powertune 20 --gpu-vddc 1.087 --temp-target 80 --gpu-fan 90 --temp-cutoff 90 --gpu-threads 2 --auto-fan --thread-concurrency 22272

Ps. Sorry for bad english. Hope this is understandable.

  • My system specs are:
    I5 2500K stock clock
    Asrock p67 pro3 B3
    16 Gb DDR3 memory
    Gigabyte R9 280x oc
    Tagan tg1300-u33 1300W psu
    Win 7 and catalyst 13.11 beta5

  • Pretty self-explanatory if you ask me, but ok...

    > 3.Temperatures after one minute can go up to 90C
    --temp-cutoff 90
    > --temp-cutoff <arg> Temperature where a device will be automatically disabled, one value or comma separated list (default: 95)

Why not go for --gpu-fan 100.
90°C is way too hot for a 280x, it will throttle like shit permanently.
